45 Seconds. That’s All It Takes to Find Out If You’re Pregnant.

This pregnancy test from FIRST RESPONSE gives you easy-to-read results in just 45 seconds. This FIRST RESPONSE Rapid Results Pregnancy Test can be used from the first missed day of your period. FIRST RESPONSE is over 99% accurate at detecting typical pregnancy hormone levels from the day of your expected period.

Benefits to Knowing Earlier

The sooner you know you’re pregnant, the earlier in your baby’s development you can make the important decisions, such as making healthy lifestyle changes that are so critical in the first weeks of pregnancy, or finding a doctor or midwife to attend your pregnancy.  Finding out sooner gives you the chance to take better care of both of you.

What Pregnancy Tests Detect

From the moment you conceive a baby, your body begins undergoing a number of physiological changes.  The first change is that your body begins to produce human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), the pregnancy hormone.  This hormone is detectable in both the blood and urine.  Incidentally, many miscarriages are diagnosed when hormone levels do not increase as expected.

Levels of hCG increase very quickly, doubling every 36-48 hours until it hits a peak at around 8-10 weeks.  Pregnancy tests work by detecting this hormone in your urine.  When a specially treated strip on the test stick comes into contact with a pregnant woman’s urine, special markers appear within a couple of minutes to indicate that the hormone has been detected.

Many at-home pregnancy tests are unable to detect the hormone until it has reached a certain level, usually days after a missed period.  Advancements now make it possible to detect hCG at lower levels, as much as five days before a missed period, and with better than 99% accuracy on the first day of the missed period.

Nothing changes your life quite like finding out you’re going to be a mother.  Knowing of your pregnancy earlier can help you take better care of yourself, eat healthier, stop smoking, make a doctor’s appointment, and make all the other decisions vital to the health and well-being of your baby, as early in his development as possible.

When to Use the Rapid Results Pregnancy Test

This First Response pregnancy test is designed to be used on the first day of your missed period.

Many pregnancy tests are most accurate first thing in the morning, when urine is the most concentrated.  The First Response pregnancy test can be used any time of the day, though when testing days before your period is due, early morning urine will give the most accurate results.

Instructions

Unwrap the test stick and remove the overcap.

Hold the test stick by the grip at the end opposite the absorbent tip.  Holding the stick with the absorbent tip pointed down and the results panel away from you, hold the absorbent tip in your urine stream for five seconds.  If you prefer, you can collect a urine sample in a clean, dry cup and submerge the absorbent tip in the sample for five seconds.  Keep the absorbent tip pointing down while you replace the overcap (the overcap is not necessary for an accurate result, it simply prevent any excess urine from dripping).  Lay the stick flat so you can see the result window.

You should soon see a pink color make its way across the window.  This shows the test is functioning properly.

Determining the Result

If the result window shows two pink lines, even if one is lighter than the other, the result is positive.  This means that pregnancy hormones were detected.  The test should not replace a doctor’s diagnosis.  A positive test result indicates hCG is present, but you should see a doctor to confirm the result.

If the result window shows only one pink line, the result is negative.  This either means that you are not pregnant, or that your hCG levels are not yet high enough to be detected.  Wait a week and if you have not started your period, test again with the second First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test in the box.  You may have miscalculated your cycle, or it may just be too early.  After a week, if you have not started your period and the result is still negative, you need to see your doctor to rule out any other condition that could be affecting your cycle.

Trying to Conceive

Many women are unaware of when they are most likely to become pregnant.  You are most fertile in the days just before you ovulate, that is, when an egg is released from one of your ovaries to be fertilised.  Becoming familiar with your cycles will make it easier to know when you are most likely to conceive.  The Zoom Baby Ovulation Test Kit is a one-step test you can take at home to help you predict when you will ovulate.  It works by detecting changes in hormone levels, so you can identify your peak fertility and get pregnant easier.  The same awareness of your cycles can also be used to help you avoid becoming pregnant.
